Prospects of Urban Mobility
The search for future-proof transport concepts is in full swing in many cities – a process in which a wide range of stakeholders are involved: from cities and municipalities and their citizens to research institutions and the automotive industry. Their ideas and needs are initially collected as part of various participatory dialogue formats, such as bilateral expert interviews and co-creative workshops. Based on the insights gained, the researchers will develop a digital twin of urban mobility – i.e. a digital image of different players in selected transport and mobility scenarios. On the one hand, this will depict the enormous diversity of actors (people on foot, on bikes or in their own cars, but also robo-taxis, public buses, etc.). The researchers also expect the intensive participation formats to reflect the rapidly changing reality of life in the urban population – including the increasing awareness of sustainability, the desire for a better quality of life and the trend towards working from home.
