STADT:up showcases automated driving in urban traffic
After three and a half years of intensive research and development, the STADT:up project presented its results at a final event held on 10 and 11 June 2026 at the Aldenhoven Testing Centre.
The 20 partners from industry and research demonstrated how end-to-end automated driving can be achieved even under challenging urban conditions – from dense traffic and complex situations to safe interaction with all road users. STADT:up has shown that automated driving functions reliably in inner-city environments and has already reached a high level of technological maturity – with the comprehensive use of AI playing a crucial role.
During the event, guests gained a wide range of insights into the project results. Live driving demonstrations of automated vehicles allowed attendees to experience the technology first-hand, while an interactive exhibition and accompanying presentations provided in-depth insights into the technologies developed and key findings.
